Hey all!
We are getting a bit of a late start on this blog, but Spring Term caught us by surprise and we were off and running before we could catch a breath and figure this all out... But it seems we've got things a little more in control now.
We're happy to be instructing you this term, and we hope that you'll learn much from us in the few short weeks we have together. As you may have already noticed, we'll be covering a lot of topics in a short time. While the schedule is crazy, we believe you can do it, and we are here to help you succeed.
As a general reminder, here is the course setup we have thus far:
-Lectures are every Monday and Wednesday from 12-1:50. Sister Lyons teaches these lectures.
-Lab sections are MW at 8, 10, and 2, or T/Th at 12 in 150 TMCB. These last two hours each and are run by Melissa or Savannah. While you are assigned to a certain lab and a certain TA for grading purposes, you are welcome to attend any other lab if you feel like you need extra assistance.
-There is an open lab every Friday from 12-2 in 154 TMCB. These lab sessions are geared toward preparing you for the frequent tests we'll have in this course. As a reminder, practice exams from previous semesters can be found here.
-Homework problem sets will be assigned for every section we cover in this class. These must be completed online on the MyLabsPlus website. You can work each homework problem as many times as you would like up until it is due. Homework assignments are due at midnight on the day of the following lecture.
-Warm-up quizzes will also be assigned for each section we cover in class, and must be completed on the MyLabsPlus website before the lecture in which they are discussed. We expect that you will do the textbook reading prior to completing the warm-up quiz. These quizzes are designed to get you thinking about the upcoming topics and prepare you for a productive lecture.
As the term progresses, we will be posting updates about what we've discussed in lectures, videos or other media that may help you, reminders of open lab sessions, and general information about the course. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. We are looking forward to an exciting term!
-Sister Lyons, Melissa, & Savannah
